The Artas® method

Thanks to robotic technology and artificial intelligence, our latest hair transplantation technique is highly precise at all times. It is done using real-time computer assistance and innovative 3D simulations, right from the beginning to the end of the hair transplantation procedure. The physician and the medical team still play a key role in this procedure.

The Praxisklinik Urania team, led by Dr. Georges Stergiou, are specialists in FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). This is the least invasive form of hair transplantation for the patient and it leaves no visible scars. The new robot-assisted method was developed by Restoration Robotics in the USA. It is a great leap forward in the field of hair transplantation and FUE. This technology has significantly increased the speed of hair follicle harvesting. A speedier process means an increased transplant survival rate. The quality of the transplants is also improved thanks to the consistency provided by harvesting by machine. The robot precisely calculates the depth and harvesting site of the hair follicle, as well as the angle it requires. What this means is that the spacing of the removed grafts, i.e. the hair follicles, is optimized and so is the result in the area they are removed from. There are hardly any visible traces of the procedure, such as scars or large empty spaces.

Another important advantage over manual harvesting is that the robot does not get tired. With manual FUE, the team needs to be replaced after a certain period of time, but this is not the case with the robot-assisted method.

The Artas® robotic system removes only the hair follicles needed for your individual treatment and selects each follicular unit using an algorithm. Each hair follicle is harvested individually using precision robotics. Even spacing between each harvested hair ensures that harvesting is spread evenly across the harvesting area (10–15 percent of hairs). This is important to allow for possible further harvesting from the same area in future years.

The minimally invasive Artas® robot-assisted FUE hair transplantation technique allows patients to return to their usual activities after just a few days. The procedure is almost painless.

The Artas® FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplantation method has a clear advantage over the manual FUE method because there is even less risk of a clearly visible scar at the back of the head.

Together with his team, Dr. Georges Stergiou is the first in Switzerland to offer Artas® robot-assisted FUE hair transplantation.
